MCCF PLANNING & LAND USE Committee

During their session on Tuesday, July 20, the County Council voted to approve an amendment of the Master Plan Work Program proposed by the Planning Department. As close as I can figure it, the new workprogram (for the next few plan revisions) is as follows:

- Kensington Sector Plan and Takoma/Langley Sector Plan revisions will be transmitted to the next Council, for action between December swearing-in and the 2011 budget season (which starts with Capital Budget in mid-April)

- Wheaton CBD Sector Plan revision will be transmitted to Council for action in summer 2011

- Glenmont Sector Plan revision will be transmitted to Council for action in fall 2011

- Long Branch Purple Line Station area plan (Flower Ave./Piney Branch Rd.) will be transmitted for action by Council by end of 2011 or in early 2012

- Chevy Chase Lake Purple Line Station area plan (on Connecticut Ave.) will be transmitted to Council for action in early 2012

- revision of the Master Plan of Highways is scheduled to get to Council in early 2012, too

- Route 29 master plan (renamed the East County Science Corridor Plan, I believe) is now scheduled for Council action in late 2012 or early 2013

Of course, this schedule is subject to being changed by the next Council after their swearing in this December, if they so desire (likely either during presentation of the Planning Board Semi-Annual Report in April, or as part of the budget process).
